We invite guests of The Westin La Paloma to visit one of the most unique desert canyons in the southwest, located less than six miles from our resort and spa.
You don’t have to be a nature enthusiast to appreciate the exquisite beauty of Sabino Canyon. Located in Tucson’s Coronado National Forest, Sabino Canyon was once home to the Hohokam People. Palo verde trees, ocotillo and prickly pear cactus are just some of the vegetation that will see as your explore this desert oasis.
The first trams in Sabino Canyon began operation in 1978, and since then visitors have only been able to reach Upper Sabino canyon by foot, bicycle or tram. Sabino Canyon is home to an abundance of wildlife, although you might not always see them in the day. Take an evening tram ride and watch as the desert becomes alive with wildlife activity.
