La Paloma Country Club and The La Paloma Westin Resort & Spa Receive IAGTO’s First Ever Award for Sustainability

Scottsdale, Ariz. – La Paloma Country Club, located at the iconic Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa in Tucson, Ariz., is pleased to announce it has been honored with the International Association of Golf Tour Operators’ (IAGTO) first ever Sustainability Award for Community Involvement.

La Paloma received the much desired accolade during the 14th annual IAGTO Awards Ceremony held on November 14, 2013 in Catalonia, Spain. The gala event is held each year in conjunction with the International Golf Travel Market (IGTM). La Paloma was noted for its strong focus on employee well-being and outreach projects and employee volunteer programs dedicated to establishing green practices and supporting local communities through volunteer projects and fundraisers.

The IAGTO Awards serve to recognize and reward a few exceptional contributions to the world of golf travel, voted for by IAGTO operators and golf travel writers from around the world. IAGTO is the global trade organization for the golf tourism industry, comprising more than 2,000 companies in 88 countries, including 480 specialist golf tour operators in 58 countries. The IAGTO Awards are the official annual awards for the golf tourism industry and this year’s event marked the first time any award has been given by the organization in the category of sustainability.
