The Wild Horse Ranch is the oldest guest ranch
in the State of Arizona. Geronimo used to roam
the high hills directly behind the ranch during
his fierce resistance. The ranch was a base camp
for the gold and silver miners teeming over the
Tucson Mountain Range. It held the last squatter's
rights in Arizona, and still boasts an as yet
undiscovered hoard of bullion, stolen from one
of the passing stagecoaches.
The present ranch was built in the 1890's by
the Yaqui Indians, using adobe mud, straw and
rocks. Originally named Eureka Ranch, the ranch
was host to some of the great western film stars
including "The Duke" John Wayne, Gary
Cooper, and James Stewart to name a few.
The Mt. Pavilion is located on the far west side
of Lazy K Bar Guest Ranch, allowing for the pavilion
guests to enjoy their own private 5 acre sanctuary
away from other ranch guest activities. The beauty
of the Mt. Pavilion really needs to be seen with
your own eyes as the landscaped upper terrace
is built right into the Tucson Mountain range.
In addition to its own 200 plus acres the Lazy
K also borders another 24,000 acres of Saguaro
National Park.
Along with exclusive use of the upper terrace
we also have a lower terrace, landscaped for guests
to enjoy the beauty and serenity of the surrounding
mountains. Off the lower pavilion is the Mt. Pavilion
itself. This new building is 1,500 square feet
and offers a soft southwest ambiance.
The Last Stand is located in the middle of a
beautiful, pristine Saguaro Cactus Forest. Standing
in the middle of the area is a 150 year old giant
Saguaro. The area is lined with natural desert
growth and offers a spectacular view of the beautiful
Arizona Sunset. Hay bales for seating surround
a bon fire pit for a true western dining experience.
As the sun sets and the stars begin to shine,
you will relish the view of the celestial wonder
of the magnificent sky above Arizona.
