The Historical Society has done a tremendous
job in recording events not only in Tucson,
but statewide. The Society possesses a distinguished
collection ranging from the 16th century
to the 1950's. The staff has been careful
to select those artifacts, and written,
printed, and photographic records which
clearly give insight into the times. Your
speaker will share the excitement of Arizona's
past with stories from the Old Frontier
to the present with examples of Tucson's
highly distinctive culture. Mark Bahti,
owner of Bahti Indian Arts, can compliment
this program with a variety of presentations
ranging from an overview and discussion
of Southwestern tribes, to their religious
beliefs and customs, to an engaging history
of the crafts from the native tribes. Mark
has taught college courses on "Papago

Communication", as well as published
numerous books and articles on the customs

Reflexology is the application of pressure
to specific points on the feet (and sometimes
the hands) believed to have correspondences
with various organs and systems of the body.
In the United States, this modality has
become popular largely as a form of message,
but in other countries it is accepted as
a legitimate medical treatment for conditions
ranging from asthma to ear infections. Reflexology
may be older than acupuncture itself, and
is rooted in the same theory that energy
pathways, or meridians, exist throughout
the body, beginning and ending with the
hands and feet, and that blockages in these
pathways lead to illness. Come explore this
ancient treatment, it may offer health benefits
far beyond simple relaxation.
Enhance your vacation by traveling light.
Let go of old baggage, breathe deeply and
take an inner journey to your own personal
paradise. This session will guide you through
the following mind-body techniques that replenish
your energy and rejuvenate your spirit: creative
visualization; breath and body awareness;
meditation; gentle stretches; restorative
yoga poses that replenish energy through passive
release rather than physical exertion. You'll
be unwinding, unburdening, undoing rather
than doing as you practice the art of relaxation.
Pamela Asherah, M.A. is a certified yoga therapist
and teacher with more than twenty years experience
in mind-body disciplines.
